A training programme on Fig Processing was conducted on 03-10-2022 at PHPTC for alleviating postharvest losses in fig for the famers of Bathinda, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Fazilka. These progressive farmers are practicing fig cultivation but owing to high perishability of the crop, these famers demanded training programme for processing of Fig. During training programme farmers were given hands on training for processing of green fig into fig jam, fig squash and fig bar. The work is also undergoing for processing of fig into candy. Overall these low cost technologies could help provide value addition to highly perishable crops with added financial benefits.
