Honourable Minister of Horticulture and Food Processing Sh Fauja Singh and Additional Chief Secretary Sh. K.A.P. Sinha, IAS visited PHPTC on 9^th August 2022. Dr B.V.C. Mahajan Director PHPTC apprised the Minister about various ongoing activities of PHPTC. He explained that PHPTC has developed number of postharvest technologies for fruits and vegetables. He demonstrated the ripening techniques of banana, storage of pear, potato and processing of pear and fig fruits and their value added products such as jam, necter and candy etc. Dr Mahajan also enlightens the Minister and Additional Chief Secretary about the importance of On-Farm Cold Room designed and developed jointly by PHPTC, Deptt of Horticulture and Agnext.

The Hon'ble Minister also visited the NABL accreditated laboratory of food testing at PHPTC. The Hon'ble Minister and Additional Chief Secretary liked the facilities set up at PHPTC an appreciated the contributions of PHPTC scientists and advised them to disseminate these technologies among farmers, entrepreneurs and industries. He also directed the officials of Punjab Agro to remain in-touch with PHPTC for sourcing the proven technologies for the benefit of farmers and entrepreneurs of Punjab State.
