PHPTC provided Technical Know-how to Budding Entrepreneur on whole Kinnow fruit utilization

Punjab Horticultural Postharvest Technology Centre has recently provided the Technical Know-how for processing of whole Kinnow fruit to Mr. Babanpreet Singh, S/o Sh. Dilbagh Singh, Jallalabad of District Fazilka for commercialization of processing technology of whole Kinnow fruit involving extraction of Kinnow peel essential oil, development of jaggery based Kinnow bar and nectar. Dr. BVC Mahajan, Director, PHPTC emphasized that Kinnow being the major fruit crop of Punjab holds huge potential for diversification of Kinnow based products in growing food market. Dr. Mahajan briefed that scientists at the Centre, Dr. Ritu Tandon will provide technical know-how for extraction of Kinnow peel essential oil while in the field of processing, Dr. Swati Kapoor will provide technical guidance for preparation of jaggery based Kinnow bar and nectar. Dr. B.V.C. Mahajan welcomed Mr. Babanpreet Singh as an upcoming entrepreneur for his successful future endeavours in the field of Kinnow processing with the hope to boost processing potential of Kinnow fruit in Punjab state.
