Training program on Packhouse Worker was conducted in collaboration with Skill Development Centre, PAU, Ludhiana sponsored by Agricultural Skill Council of India, New Delhi from 16.01.2020 to 14.02.2020. A total of 20 candidates from different regions of Punjab state participated in the training program. The program emphasized on working operations of pack-house of fruits and vegetables with respect to sorting, grading, packaging and storage. Hands-on-training was given to participants on packaging techniques of fruits and vegetables for retail marketing. Different processing technologies were also discussed and hands-on-training was also provided for value addition to fruits & vegetables. During the training program exposure visits were conducted at Citrus Estate, Bhunga to demonstrate pack-house operations of kinnow fruit, Salem Tabri Sabzi mandi, Ludhiana for exhibiting ripening of bananas using ethylene gas, Namdhari Fresh Foods, Ludhiana for packhouse operations of vegetables and Centre of Excellence for Vegetables Kartarpur. The course was conducted under the Technical guidance of Dr. BVC Mahajan, Dr. T S Riar, Dr. Swati Kapoor and Dr. Lavleesh Garg.
